English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D)

The English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) program provides English classes to students whose first language is not English.

Many of our students are graduates of the Intensive English Centre (IEC). EAL/D is a SCSA recognised English pathway for students seeking university entrance, TAFE or further study.

The EAL/D curriculum offers students opportunities to develop skills in the modes of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The teaching program for lower school EAL/D courses incorporates NAPLAN and OLNA preparation as well as assessments aligned with mainstream English courses.

In upper school, we offer Foundation, General and ATAR pathways based on the needs of our students.

Whenever possible, the EAL/D department celebrates the cultural diversity of our students which we see as a strength of our school.

We continue to build on the expertise and professionalism of the EAL/D department and see this subject grow from strength to strength.
