I am extremely pleased to have been appointed to Greenwood SHS for the next six months. I firmly believe that school communities must support all students in maximising their opportunities for later life. To do this the essential ingredients are; a safe and caring learning environment where all members treat one another with respect, a high level of expertise and professionalism from teachers and a parent body who encourage their children to achieve the best they can and in doing so, support the school. The adolescent years can be fraught with issues such as anxiety and concerns and parenting an adolescent is no easy task. I would like to think, in assisting our young people to grow into adulthood, it is essential there is a strong partnership between home and school. The students, staff and parents I have met with so far at Greenwood SHS, certainly seem to advocate these values, I have noticed particularly, the courtesy and friendliness of the students.

My background is quite diverse in that I started teaching in 1979, and have experience in both city and regional schools. I was the Head of Department for Society & Environment for approximately 12 years and in that time was coerced to teach Year 11 and 12 Theatre Arts! I have been a Deputy Principal for 10 years and have been appointed Acting Principal a number of times in the last few years at Duncraig SHS.I am very much looking forward to the next six months, having the opportunity to interact with members of the Greenwood school community and making a contribution to the further development of Greenwood SHS.
