- EXPLORATIONS IN LEARNING AND INSTRUCTION: The Theory Into Practice Database (TIP) is a tool intended to make learning and instructional theory more accessible to educators. The database contains brief summaries of 50 major theories of learning and instruction. These theories can also be accessed by learning domains and concepts.

From this page you can complete an interactive Perceptual Modality Preference Survey which gives you instant feedback on your preferred learning style. This may give you insight into your learning/teaching preferences. Students could also complete this survey. You may also access information on the 7 Perceptual Learning Styles. The Index of Learning Styles link at the bottom of this page gives access to an online questionnaire for assessing learning preferences on four of the five dimensions of the Felder-Silverman model. It is also available as a Paper and Pencil version complete with a self scoring form and a four page handout outlining suitable teaching/learning strategies according to your learning preferences.
