Dance
The college offers a school based specialist program in Dance from years 7-12. Each dance student from years 7-10 studies the subject for two hours a week in a year long course. Year 11-12 students have four periods a week and are currently enrolled in a mixture of ATAR courses and General courses. All students study a range of different genres which varies from year to year but may include contemporary, ballet, jazz, hip hop, acrobatics, cultural, lyrical, tap and Bollywood. As a Performing Arts subject, Dance students have the opportunity to perform at a range of different events throughout the year. For example;
- Choreography Night (End of year dance concert)
- Student Choreography (a showcase of students own choreography)
- School Tours
- Yohfest
- School Musical
- School Assemblies
- Dance and Cheerleading Competitions
Greenwood College has two Cheerleading teams. The Greenwood Knights and the Greenwood Titans. Entry into these teams is by audition only and is an extra-curricular activity within the Dance program. Both teams compete in a number of different competitions throughout the year and they compete in a range of different categories including; cheer, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, pom, solos, duos/trios, group stunts. They may also have the opportunity to compete over in east in national championships.
