Greenwood College Volleyball program

Greenwood College has for many years run a successful Specialist Volleyball program.

The program is designed to provide students the opportunity to develop and enhance a high level of performance, game sense and understanding of the sport of Volleyball.

Greenwood College has a long history of developing talented state representatives who have proudly represented the college. Inter school tournaments and annual tours to the Gold Coast for National Championships competitions are all part of the Specialist Volleyball experience. All students enrolled in volleyball from Years 7-12 participate in competitive specialised Volleyball classes facilitated by experienced and specialist coaching staff.

Course work information:

Year 7 Volleyball

Two hours per week

Year 7 Volleyball is run in conjunction with general Physical Education courses.  Prior to arrival at Greenwood College and during the first two weeks of Term 1, students can elect to enter the Volleyball Specialist program.  Focus is on indoor and beach volleyball for 3 Terms of the school year.

Year 8 Volleyball, Year 9 Volleyball, Year 10 Volleyball

Two hours per week

Year 8-10 Volleyball courses are run outside of general Physical Education courses.  All students elect to enter and are subject to acceptance into the Volleyball Specialist program.  Focus is on indoor and beach volleyball for the entire school year.

Year 11 Volleyball – PE Studies General

Four hours per week

Year 11 Volleyball is a PE Studies course that encompasses two theory and two practical lessons per week. Theory focuses are on Body Systems, Mental Skills, Coaching, Umpiring and Body Mechanics. Practical focuses are on Indoor and Beach Volleyball.

Year 12 Volleyball – PE Studies General

Four hours per week

Year 12 volleyball is a PE Studies course that builds on the previous Year 11 Volleyball – PE Studies course. Four lessons are held per week, two hours on theory and two hours on practical. Theory focuses are on Energy Systems, Sports Injuries, Fitness and Training, Coaching and Umpiring. Practical focuses are on Indoor and Beach Volleyball.
